Bank robber faces federal charges

Metro Police and the FBI Monday arrested a bank robbery suspect, Enrique J. Hurtado of Las Vegas, after a car chase that ended in a wreck.

Hurtado, 34, was arrested after a robbery at a Nevada Federal Credit Union at 1264 S. Nellis Blvd. After Metro Police began chasing Hurtado, his vehicle crashed and he was taken to University Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, said Steven M. Martinez, special agent in charge of the Las Vegas FBI office.

Hurtado will face federal charges from today's bank robbery and possibly one other, Martinez said.

Hurtado is suspected of committing at least five robberies within the past week, including one at a convenience store at Stewart Avenue and Lamb Boulevard earlier this morning.
