Metro Police said today that it is still organizing records seized from the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada as federal, state and local investigators delved into unsafe medical practices at the outpatient clinic.
Metro, the FBI and state health agencies armed with search warrants seized patient records at several local clinics, including the center at 700 Shadow Lane, the Gastroenterology Center of Nevada and the Desert Shadow Endoscopy Center. Tens of thousands of pages of medical files were seized as evidence from those clinics.
Although Metro Police earlier had indicated patients could arrange to pick up their records today, the department announced it would not have a process in place until next week.
Most patients were referred to the endoscopy clinics by their primary care physicians, and their records will be available through those doctors, police said.
Police are still developing a procedure for releasing records to patients when no referring physician exists — such as when the patient comes through a hospital emergency room.
