North Las Vegas passenger dies in car wreck

A passenger in a car that ran a red light was pronounced dead at the scene of a traffic accident at East Craig and Losee roads at 1:30 p.m. today, North Las Vegas Police said.

The 2001 Oldsmobile in which the victim was riding was traveling west on Craig, then turned left onto southbound Losee on a red light, police said.

A 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, eastbound on Craig and passing through the intersection on a green light, struck the passenger side of the Oldsmobile, police said.

The Oldsmobile's driver was taken to University Medical Center and was in critical condition late this afternoon, police said.

The driver and a passenger in the Tahoe suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene by North Las Vegas Fire Department paramedics.

The victim's identity has not yet been released by the county coroner's office.
