Dr. Dipak Desai, whose only comments so far about a hepatitis outbreak that may threaten 40,000 people were contained in a newspaper ad, today issued a statement.
Desai is the majority owner of the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada at 700 Shadow Lane. He promised the state Board of Medical Examiners on Friday that he would not practice medicine until the investitgation is resolved.
Here is his statement, issued just a few minutes ago:
"As a longtime resident of Southern Nevada, I share our community's sorrow and concern for those who have been affected by this situation. I understand that many have questions about the allegations which have been levied against me and the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada.
"While I wish I were allowed to answer those questions, I am unfortunately unable to do so at this time on the advice of legal counsel. These unfounded allegations will be addressed in a court of law, when facts have been presented and substantiated. I look forward to that day, when I will be afforded the right to due process to which we are all entitled as Americans."
The statement said Desai will not issue any more statements until after legal proceedings have concluded.
You are allowed to answer the questions, you just are man enough to stand up and be responsible for yourself. How can you sleep at night knowing your greed intentionally put so many people at risk? You have a responsibility to these VICTIMS now, step up.

Dr Desai must have "forgotten" about the right of patients to have sterile needles, syringes, and vials.
Did Dr. Desai forget his Hippocratic Oath????????
the public need not worry about Dr. Desai and his croonies anymore. They are out of business..what dr. would refer them? who would go to them after this public exposure..dr. desai and his cohorts are known now all over the world..pack your bags and go back to india, that is if you don't stay in jail for the rest of your life..India is the only place you can continue to practice your 3rd world medicine..get ready to trade your $300,000 car for a camel..
I was reading through the dictionary today. I ran across "psychopathic personality". I was surprised to see the new defination is "Dipak Desai". Words will never express what his and his partners coming into my life has meant to me...not!
What unfounded allegations? Investigators saw employees using unsafe practices. Desai was responsible. End of story...except that you forgot to say sorry this happened at my facilities.
What a jerk! You should take your chance to flee prosecution now and leave the country. Then they can seize all your assets and pay off all the injured people you Dr. (and I use that term very loosely) Desai injured through your greed and avarice.
I also agree that he should give a statement to the families that have been touched by this incident. Although I don't think anything he could say would ease the pain of the victims.
As far as the crazy racist comments below- WOW. Who cares if he's indian, white, black, etc. Janice, why do I get the feeling that you are a white old lady sitting behind a computer getting your racial hatred out? If you’re going to throw those comments out about Indians, I'm sure you've said much worse about other races! The camel comment alone is comical!
It doesn't matter what race he is, bc he is a SOB who is heartless, stupid, money grubbing, and destroyer of lives. I can't believe the is still acting like these things "didn't happen" that this is all "someone's view of him" not reality.
What a moron. I can't believe my insurance company made me go to see such a butcher... to think that this was the only place in Vegas my insurance would send me. Maybe we should sue them too. What about you guys, did you have a choice on where to go?
