Two men die in Lake Mead accidents (UPDATED)

A boater and a motorcyclist died over the weekend at Lake Mead, the National Park Service said.

About 4:40 p.m. Friday, Randy S. Jordan, 60, of Las Vegas crashed his boat along the shoreline near Swallow Cove and witnesses were unable to reach him time before he and the boat sank, National Park Service spokeswoman Roxanne Dey said.

The park service is continuing to investigate the incident, she said.

Rangers arrived at the area of the crash at 5:20 p.m., where they searched unsuccessfully until about 7 p.m. Rangers, boating volunteers and Metro Police divers resumed searching Saturday and found the boat and Jordan at 10:46 a.m., Dey said.

Twenty-six minutes prior to finding Jordan, rangers had been called about a motorcycle crash in a ditch near the Callville Bay access road, Dey said. The motorcyclist, 29-year-old Ted Michael Everidge of Las Vegas was pronounced dead at the scene.

Everidge is an Air Force staff sergeant stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in the helicopter maintenance unit, the park service confirmed.

The coroner's office said Everidge died of injuries he suffered in the crash.
