Olive pollen replaces mulberry misery

The latest pollen counts taken Sunday show that Las Vegas Valley residents suffering from itchy, burning eyes and stuffy noses can blame olive trees instead of mulberry for the misery.

The Clark County Air Quality & Environmental Management division posted its latest results today. Olive pollen counts are high al over the valley. High counts occur when 90 to 1,499 grains of pollen occur in a cubic meter of air.

High levels mean most people with sensitivity to the pollen will experience some discomforting symptoms.

Weeds, caused by ambrosia rank second in pollen counts.

In addition, the valley's air pollutants included moderate levels of dust, ozone and low levels of carbon monoxide, the report said.
