Henderson is not a ‘boring’ place

I’d like to offer my two cents on Henderson being voted “Most Boring City” by Forbes Magazine. According to Forbes, we are one of the top 10 largest cities in the U.S. with nothing going on. I beg to differ.

Here are 10 reasons why Henderson is hardly boring.

10. Silverman - we host the Silverman triathlon in November that brings athletes here from all over the world.

9. ArtFest - for over ten years Henderson has hosted one of the largest fine arts shows in the Southwest. Count on Mother’s Day weekend for over 200 fine artists and craftsmen to showcase their art on Water Street.

8. Voted Best Place to Play - we were voted “Best Place to Play” by kaBoom!, a non-profit dedicated to enhancing children’s lives through play.

7. Voted Best Walking City - because of our miles of parks and trails, we were also voted best place to walk.

6. CNN Money voted Henderson 98th out of 100 best cities to live in and launch a business.

5. “Contact Henderson” - residents have instant access with City of Henderson officials to answer their questions and respond to their complaints.

4. Shopping - the area of Sunset Road and Stephanie Street offers the largest shopping destination in Nevada.

2. Crime Rate - Henderson’s crime rate is 25 percent below the national average, making Henderson a safe and comfortable place to live.

3. Lake Las Vegas - for an elite vacation or getaway, Lake Las Vegas offers four-star lodging, golf, and shopping.

1. Family Events - From parades to car shows and carnivals, Henderson always has some sort of event going on that the whole family can attend and enjoy amidst the lovely weather we have most of the year.

Now that I think about it, maybe it’s a good thing we were voted “Most Boring.” May our quality of life continue to go undisturbed!
