America's 10 Most Boring Cities
- Chula Vista, Calif.
- Hialeah, Fla.
- Mesa, Ariz.
- North Las Vegas, Nev.
- Henderson, Nev.
- Chandler, Ariz.
- Santa Ana, Calif.
- Bakersfield, Calif.
- Aurora, Colo.
- Gilbert, Ariz.
Although they are within sight of the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas Strip, the cities of Henderson and North Las Vegas are among America's "10 Most Boring Cities" according to Forbes Magazine.
The study, published last month, examined the 100 largest communities in the United States based on population.
Forbes selected the top 10 cities, in no particular order, that received the least amount of attention in 2008 from national media outlets such as USA Today, the Washington Post, Newsweek and Time.
Also on the list are California cities Chula Vista, Santa Ana and Bakersfield, and Arizona cities Mesa, Chandler and Gilbert.
Las Vegas resident Terry Lackas, who lived in Henderson for five years before moving to Las Vegas in 2004, said she was surprised at the Forbes study.
"I'd hardly call it boring," Lackas said. "Maybe a few years ago when Henderson was growing. But now it has all kinds of restaurants and shopping."
At the Neon Sun Salon in Henderson, sales associate Maddy Wong also disagreed with the study.
"We get a lot of seniors coming in who are from the Green Valley area, but I wouldn't really say it's boring," Wong said. "Green Valley Ranch is the first thing that comes to my mind. I go there a lot with my friends."
