12-year-old girl found dead (UPDATED)

A 12-year-old girl was fatally stabbed and a man was taken to Sunrise Hospital Trauma Unit with injuries, police said.

Metro Police are investigating the stabbing death of a 12-year-old girl at at the Road Runner RV Park at 4711 Boulder Highway today.

A woman believed to be the mother called police before noon, police spokesman Bill Cassell said. Officers arrived within three or four minutes and found the girl stabbed to death.

An "edged weapon" was used in an attack on the child, Casselll said.

The 12-year old's father, a 54- year-old William Redman, was taken to Sunrise Hospital Trauma Unit with injuries and is expected to be charged with her murder after he recovers from wounds, Metro Police said. Redman's condition is not known at this time.

Two other children who live in the RV were safe and in protective custody, Cassell said.

The RV had been there for less than a year. No police reports of domestic violence were connected to the RV, Cassell said.

A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said, "It sounded like the father went sort of beserk, or something."
