Store clerk shot by former employee

Metro Police are searching for a 26-year-old man suspected of shooting the boss of a convenience store and gas station on Wednesday.

Vicente Alvinez of Las Vegas was fired from his job Tuesday at the Guru Xpress MiniMart at 6698 Sky Pointe Drive in the southwestern Las Vegas Valley, police said.

Officers arrived at the store to find the victim had been shot several times in an office.

Alvinez is described as 5-foot-5, weighing 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt and tan pants. He left in a white 1987 Mazda RX7, with Nevada license plates 220-VJV.

Anyone with information concerning Alvinez's whereabouts is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or Metro's homicide section at 828-3521.

The identity of the victim and the exact cause of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.
