Police looking for man who escaped home surrounded by SWAT team

Metro Police are still looking for a man who escaped from a house in the 8000 block of Cracker Barrel Street after a domestic dispute brought a SWAT team to the area.

Metro Police gave this description of the incident:

Police arrived and tried to contact 33-year-old Martrell Cleveland after a woman who said she was his wife called police early this morning. Cleveland was armed and contemplating suicide.

The woman and her children left the house unharmed.

SWAT and negotiators tried to contact Cleveland, but did not get a response. SWAT entered the house but did not find Cleveland.

Police said Cleveland has an extensive criminal record and should be considered armed and dangerous. He is 5 feet 8, weighs 160 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair worn in a ponytail. He was wearing a white tank top and blue jeans when last seen.

Police are asking for help locating Cleveland. If citizens wish to remain anonymous, they can call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
