Second toddler drowns this year

A 1 1/2-year-old girl today became the second person to drown in a home pool this year.

Preliminary information released by Metro Police and paramedics indicates that the little girl was floating in the pool for at least 15 minutes before she was found about 2:45 p.m. today.

A relative pulled the toddler out and started CPR. Paramedics rushed the girl to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The identity of the girl will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Investigators are trying to find out how the child got into the swimming pool.

On April 7 1-year-old Clayre M. Rubkavina slipped out an unlocked sliding glass door and into a pool without a security fence at her Henderson home, Henderson Police say.
