1-year-old drowns in pool at Henderson home (UPDATED)

An unlocked sliding glass door and a pool without a security fence appears to have contributed to the accidental drowning death of a 1-year-old girl at her Henderson home today, police say.

The girl was found by her mother, unconscious in the family's pool at 262 Winona Terrace, near Warm Springs Road and Pueblo Place, Henderson police say.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the girl as Clayre M. Rubkavina.

The mother called 911 at 9:52 a.m. Officers arrived a few minutes later as the woman performed CPR on her daughter, police say.

The officers took over performing CPR until paramedics arrived and the girl was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police say it appears that the toddler left the house through the open door, went into the backyard and fell into the poor.

The investigation into the drowning is continuing, although the girl's death appears to be accidental, police say.
