Pat Mulroy has spent years purchasing, planning and praying for the right to pump water from rural Nevada to thirsty Las Vegas, where, aside from the economy, fickle mother nature poses the only obstacle to growth. And now she is immersed in hearings that will determine the fate of the "Great Rural Water Grab". We'll ask her about that and how she got away without a performance review all those years.

  1. Well done, Jon! You once again provided the viewers a thorough, in-depth interview that answers many questions.

Although it was made clear explaining that the scenerio that this pipeline is based, is all presented as the very WORST case scenerio, it still addresses one side. It has NOT addressed the complete LACK of SUSTAINABILITY PLANNING on the parts of the COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, which has the ultimate players who USE precious water resources over a lifetime!

When you have those who approach the COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION with massive business, resort, and housing projects which place an extra demand for water getting these projects approved or even "rubber stamped," without any mention of having a sustained water supply for them and/or conservation methods built within these projects, one has to STOP and question.

This is a DESERT, and continuing to BUILD using the GROWTH MODEL, with a finite water supply, simply does NOT work. The County Planning Commissioners MUST change their mindsets that they have occupied the last 20 years. Sprawling, massive, water demanding projects must cease. Only projects that are SUSTAINABLE should be permitted to be built, using previously built/improved parcels or lots of land. The "footprint" needs to be addressed.

And with all due respect, Pat Mulroy DID NOT address SUSTAINABLE growth in Clark County. She presented an adequate arguement until you factor in this part of the puzzle: water demand. Obviously, she won't even go there and it is a VITAL component to this dillema.

So maybe bring in the County Planning Commissioners about SUSTAINABLE GROWTH for a balanced point of view. Give the viewers that. It is needed. Thank you.
