Where will displaced students and faculty go if the state's universities and colleges cut programs? We spoke with the potentially displaced.

  1. I've thought about your interview with the Nevada State president. A couple of things come to mind:

    -NSC leases all its buildings, so closing that campus wouldn't incur the same cost of dealing with empty buildings as at other campuses where the state owns buildings.
    -NSC duplicates what students in the 2.0 to 3.0 range could do at College of Southern Nevada, namely, bring up their GPA so they can go on to UNLV or UNR.
    -Why would we want nurses and teachers who are B students? Shouldn't we expect both professions to have the very best?
    -NSC is a great idea-- as an experiment, in flush budget times, not now.

    Leaving all the state higher education campuses open is a decision I hope the Regent revisit. What good will it do to have "access" but no "content"? Let's pull back and keep the quality at UNLV and UNR and one or two community colleges.
