Thank you for the beautiful report on the memorial service for Mr. Matthew Cox, Music Director at Basic High School.
He was a dedicated teacher and had the gift of inspiring students. He was committed to making the music program the best it could be with the resources available. Just after the school year began he lost his aide (cuts) and managed about 160 students, 4 choirs, 5 specialty groups plus new groups, in six classes by himself.
My son was his student for 2 1/2 years, since Mr. Cox came to Basic. He has been one of the students who realized his talent and excelled.
Personally Mr. Cox was a gifted musician and always very professional and cordial. His reputation and memory should not in any way be associated with the tragic circumstances of his death. Glenda Nelson, Basic High School Mom
