From January through April, a 14-year-old, a 15-year-old and two 17-year-olds committed suicide in Southern Nevada, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office. Dr. Jay Fisher, medical director of pediatric emergency services at University Medical Center, said there has been a steady, slow increase in adolescent suicides and suicide attempts over the past 50 years that doesn’t seem to be waning. A 12-year-old was hospitalized earlier this month after attempting suicide, Fisher said.
