I looked at the pictures. I still haven't changed my mind, it reminds me of the last time I was in Detroit. To me it just does not fit in with everything else. It's an eyesore sticking up above everything just like the Fblue and the Trump tower. They should of designed it so it is more appealing to the eye. I always take pictures of the Bellagio, I can't get enough of the architecture, it's one of the reasons I go to Vegas.
I think to truly get a feel for it you have to be there and experience it.
I look forward to checking it out!Glad to see the opening date is near.
Why would I want to spend my vacation in an office tower?
I want to understand it..I just don't get it.
Not to be nit-picky...but there are so many things that don't work for me. No marquee, a casino that is in the back of the property (a shopping mall and two non-casino hotels front the strip), no neon, too congested, etc...There is no romance, no warmth, no excitement with this property. It is just a business park.
It actually makes the Riviera and Sahara look appealing.
I liked the rustic, western approach to resorts of the fifties.
Wow. Just wow. AMAZING.
I hope it is successful without putting everyone else out of buisiness. The jobs are good for the city but I just can't imagine where the customers are going to come from.
oh wow,i want to ride on the monorail, any pics of the inside
What's the theme?
The theme is "Las Vegas Designed by George Orwell". Hahahaha!
UGLY!
Wow, tough room! When the Wynn and Encore went up did you guys complain about the simplicity of the crescent shape and the same colour scheme? Oh it looks so boring.... C'mon! Get in the spirit, it's shiny and new! I just fear that it will actually take paying customers away from the other not so glam properties on the strip. I'll be there next week, can't wait to see it! (Eventhough it won't actually be open for me to stroll around)
The construction workers add a nice touch!
When I went for those ridiculous job interviews at that manufactured building on Industrial, they had a mock up of the whole thing. It was quite impressive, especially the pool area. It looked gorgeous and inviting. Also, the landscaping added that warm touch. Don't know if that is really how it will look, but it looked quite nice. In the middle of all those buildings, where you can't see from teh Strip, is where it really had character with the pool and what looked to be restaurants and stuff like that. The buildings are ugly, though. And yes - dime a dozen high riess you can see anywhere.
Tell us all where you can see high-rises like those at CityCenter!
Impressive. Can't wait to see it. I think the theme is...the center of a large city.
Well Solar let's see: Singapore, Paris, L.A., New York, Chicago, Vancouver...I'd go on but why bother. We all know you work for MGM Mirage and you're in love with this project but don't make stupid statements just for the sake of it.

Even though everyone at the top in that company sits around daily telling each other how clever they are, it's been done - and for a long while elsewhere. Nobody cares about big glass buildings with art by people that no one's heard of but the snooty few and overpriced restaurants with one word names like Food, Eat, Sweet, Snackedysnack or whatever new stupidity these overpaid ad agencies come up with.
I said it before a
Uh, no. Do I love the project? Duh. See comment above.
Gonna need some evidence of those buildings in LA, NYC, or Chicago. Hell, even Vancouver. If you can't provide any, you're just talking nonsense.
The artists that no one has ever heard of have all had shows at museums like the Louvre, the Guggenheim in New York and Bilbao. So, someone has heard of them. Oh, and those restaurants and the chefs that will be cooking there serve some damn fine food.
Clearly, you just hate whatever you don't get. So, grow up and listen to what your mother told you about what you can do if you have nothing nice (or constructive) to say.
Looking at your comments now, the only favorable thing you've said recently was about Disney as a company.
Seriously, you have literally no understanding of what you're talking about. You apparently just call things ugly and poo-poo on any anticipation of this project's opening. You are literally being Debbie Downer. You actually managed to talk crap about Elvis because you like the Beatles more. Huh. How can someone appreciate any artistic nuance of this project, for the artists, designers or architects, if you can't appreciate Elvis' artistic contribution to music? John Lennon said it best: "Before Elvis, there was nothing."
Know what you're talking about first, then talk. That way you look like less of a dunce.
Oh yeah, I clicked your link. When the masses in America get over to Qatar, I'm sure they'll take in all of that wonderful architecture. For now, they'll just have Vegas.
Been taking vacation to
Vegas for 5 years now. I like Vegas better then Hawaii and Mexico. The blend of old and new that is Vegas Stile, There is nothing like Vegas style, old or new. That is why I want to come back for more.
Can't wait to check out City Center but I will be staying at the Rio all the same on my next trip to the best vacation spot in the universe. Just don't chenge the weather in the Fall and Spring.
Sure, other cities have skyscapers. But to see those you have to put up with the smell of urine, hot dogs, bums, insane traffic, and risk muggings.
Jim Murren may say he wanted City Center to be something other than just another hotel, but that's what he's got so far. Can't our civic leaders see what is necessary for this town? We need some ATTRACTIONS--not just shimmering dorms for thousands of people who have nothing much to do. Las Vegas is getting more and more sterile. There should be some ziplines for people to ride from one hotel rooftop to another, like they have in the jungles of Costa Rica. There should be a high-wire act daily with Philippe Petit walking from the top of Wynn to the top of Encore. Las Vegas, "The Entertainment Capital of the World", is the biggest myth in the world.
People are intrigued, more so than they were in 2005 for the opening of Wynn. And Wynn is a success still now. I remember hearing people bad-mouth Wynn when it opened. They said that it would never be Bellagio. And it isn't. It's distinctly Wynn. City Center won't be Bellagio or Wynn either, though one can draw a thousand similarities between them all. At the end of the day, City Center will stand on its own as a place the world will want to visit. At half the price, you can get a room that's more luxurious than the Four Seasons in say, Atlanta. And you get accommodations on the most exciting road in America.
Of course people will come. They will come by the millions. And some will bad-mouth it, because that's what some people do. Although, many more will remark how beautiful and exciting it is.
General Motors will relocate to Las Vegas, lease all of City Center for their new corporate headquarters.
