Undercard fighter Maximo Blanco misses weight by one pound
The UFC picked the right event to hold at MGM Grand’s Hollywood Theater. “The Ultimate Fighter” 17 weigh-in featured plenty of acting. The fighters on Saturday night’s card had to do their best pretending when they squared off with their opponents. The customary stare-down photos played out like picture day for high school football teams: Everyone tried not to smile.

Fighting: Hall talks 'The Ultimate Fighter' 17 finale, loss to Chris Weidman
UFC President Dana White anointed Uriah Hall “the nastiest, deadliest, meanest” competitor in the history of “The Ultimate Fighter” after watching the 28-year-old knock out three straight opponents during the reality show competition. A bewildered fan sent White a message on Twitter wondering how Hall (7-2 MMA, 4-0 TUF) had ever been beaten in his career. It seems no one believes Hall can lose in Saturday night’s finale at the Mandalay Bay Events Center against Kelvin Gastelum (5-0 MMA, 4-0 TUF).

After Lyoto Machida defeated Dan Henderson at UFC 157, he muttered two words repeatedly more than anything else — “title shot”. Machida was determined to earn a chance at reclaiming the light heavyweight belt he previously held three years ago and failed to take away from Jon Jones in December 2011. Now that he’s officially earned the championship bout, however, Machida has lightened his tone.

Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva wakes up every morning, and without fail, is reminded of the worst loss of his career. In the co-main event of last year’s annual Memorial Day weekend card in Las Vegas, Cain Velasquez mauled Silva in one of the bloodiest and most lopsided fights in recent memory.

UFC 158: Diaz asks for rematch after losing every round to St. Pierre
MONTREAL — The reconciliation lasted about as long as one round. After Georges St. Pierre routed Nick Diaz with a unanimous-decision victory (50-45, 50-45, 50-45) in the UFC 158 main event, the two were cordial in the octagon and appeared to put their rivalry in the past. Then St. Pierre walked to an interview with Fuel TV backstage right after Diaz.

Off of a Fight of the Night win, Johny Hendricks emerges as St. Pierre's next challenger
MONTREAL — Showing no lingering animosity, Georges St. Pierre took Nick Diaz's hand and raised it to the packed crowd in his hometown Bell Centre. Of course, that was an easy position to take with the way the fight went. St. Pierre stifled Diaz, barely letting his longtime rival mount any kind of offense at UFC 158. The champion won his 11th title fight, cruising to a unanimous-decision victory (50-45, 50-45, 50-45).

Nick Diaz fails to back up years worth of talk

UFC 158 A welterweight title fight that felt incredibly different wound up remarkably the same. Georges St. Pierre manhandled nemesis Nick Diaz with his wrestling. St. Pierre won every round on every judges' scorecard in Montreal for his sixth straight unanimous-decision victory. Diaz had preached his superiority over St. Pierre for years, but when he finally got his chance, he looked as helpless as all the other challengers to the 170-pound division's throne in the last six years. St. Pierre's consistency continued to amaze. Now it's on to Johny Hendricks, who defeated Carlos Condit in the evening's co-main event. Could he be the one to finally threaten St. Pierre?
