    Like many others around the world, B.J. Penn was very impressed when he watched world champion boxer Manny Pacquiao dismantle Miguel Cotto last month in Las Vegas. Penn delivered a very similar performance Saturday in defending his UFC lightweight championship against top contender Diego Sanchez.

    Although Frank Mir has shown no hesitancy insulting Cheick Kongo’s skills as a fighter in the weeks leading up to their heavyweight fight at UFC 107 on Saturday, he said he wouldn’t start a war of words to Kongo’s face Thursday because of his French opponent’s limited English vocabulary.

    Frank Mir returned to Bonanza High School recently the same way he left it - unnoticed. With the school deserted on a quiet Saturday morning, the former UFC heavyweight champion slipped in undetected to his old wrestling room for the first time since graduating from Bonanza in 1998. For Mir, going anywhere in Las Vegas without getting recognized is a tough chore these days. It was a different story as a high school student-athlete, though, when Mir says he mostly flew under the radar.

    At certain moments during his UFC lightweight championship fight in August, Kenny Florian was just positive he knew what was coming from B.J. Penn. His preparations were so extreme though, that when Penn did do the unexpected, it had the potential to throw the entire fight off.

Nick Diaz fails to back up years worth of talk

UFC 158 A welterweight title fight that felt incredibly different wound up remarkably the same. Georges St. Pierre manhandled nemesis Nick Diaz with his wrestling. St. Pierre won every round on every judges' scorecard in Montreal for his sixth straight unanimous-decision victory. Diaz had preached his superiority over St. Pierre for years, but when he finally got his chance, he looked as helpless as all the other challengers to the 170-pound division's throne in the last six years. St. Pierre's consistency continued to amaze. Now it's on to Johny Hendricks, who defeated Carlos Condit in the evening's co-main event. Could he be the one to finally threaten St. Pierre?
