It was the Diamondbacks who made the critical late-game error Friday night and the Bulldogs who took advantage of it. The Bulldogs held on in the fourth quarter for a 23-21 victory over the Spartans. Cimarron scored a few times late to make it a close contest, but a 20-yard touchdown pass from Austin Turley to Trajan Pili provided enough insurance for Centennial.

Palo Verde remains undefeated with win over Centennial: Saturday, September 17, 2011; high school football:; Edward Hauth; Palo Verde High raced out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead over visiting Centennial and never looked back as the Panthers defeated the Bulldogs 49-12 Friday to improve to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in league play.

Heavy-hearted Arbor View holds on to beat Centennial: Saturday, September 10, 2011; high school football: Roderick Eason stars in important game for the Aggies; By Case Keefer; Arbor View deserved Friday night’s 20-13 victory over Northwest Division rival Centennial. Not just the Aggies football team, but the entire Arbor View High School community. It was an emotional week at Arbor View as everyone at the school tried to cope with the loss of 15-year old sophomore Alyssa Otremba, who was killed while walking home a week ago.

Las Vegas erases double-digit deficit to beat Centennial: Friday, September 2, 2011; high school football: Victor's two second-half touchdowns overshadow 200-plus rushing yards from Centennial's Jacobi Owens; By Ray Brewer; At times Friday night, it appeared running backs Farrell Victor of Las Vegas High and Jacobi Owens of Centennial were involved in a personal competition. Victor rushed for 199 yards and two touchdowns, scoring the game-winner on a 55-yard run with 4:34 to play to lead the Wildcats’ football team to a 24-21 victory against host Centennial. Victor’s efforts, however, were nearly overshadowed by Owens. He carried the ball 41 times for 237 yards and also had a 55-yard touchdown run.
