I read with great interest the March 22 letter “Court is now just a political body.” After listing numerous accusations, there is one statement that summarizes the letter’s pro-liberal diatribe.
The writer opines that “there is no way this court is going to support the national will on any topic.”
Thank God that statement is true. The function of the Supreme Court is to interpret the law, unencumbered and unbiased by politics, politicians or even the will of the people.
The will of the people is protected by voting and changing the laws, if they so desire.
The letter writer’s eagerness to change the composition of the court to a left-leaning branch exposes his bias to turn it into something he pretends to despise, namely a political body.
