Forecast strong winds prompt dust advisory in Las Vegas area

Clark County has issued a dust advisory for tonight through Thursday morning because forecast strong winds.

The National Weather Service, which issued a wind advisory, is predicting winds of 40 to 55 mph tonight through Friday morning.

Dust is a form of air pollution called particulate matter that aggravates respiratory diseases, county officials said.

People with heart or lung disease, older adults and children could be at greater risk from dust and may feel better staying indoors, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
