Clark County Wetlands Park is closed today after a knife-wielding man confronted a motorist in the area and later threatened to “do damage within the park," county officials said.

The closure includes the Nature Center, Nature Preserve and Duck Creek Trailhead, officials said. The park is located in the east valley, east of Tropicana Avenue and Boulder Highway.

Police responded about 2 a.m. today to a call of a man armed with knives confronting a motorist near the park, officials said. About an hour later, the man called police to “report plans to do damage within the park,” officials said.

When confronted by police, the man fled on foot and has not been located, officials said.

The county this evening posted video of the man apparently attempting to damage drinking fountains at the park.

The park will remain closed until further notice “out of an abundance of caution” as the county’s Office of Public Safety continues to monitor the area, officials said.

Updates on the situation will be posted on Clark County social media sites @ClarkCountyNV, @CCWetlandsPark, @CCParkPolice and @ClarkCountyNV.
