Pedestrian crossing Las Vegas street hit by SUV, killed, police say

A pedestrian was hit by an SUV and killed Monday night while crossing a Las Vegas street outside of a crosswalk, according to Metro Police.

The incident was reported about 7:35 p.m. at East Flamingo Road and Burnham Avenue, police said.

The SUV was headed east on Flamingo when the unidentified pedestrian crossed into its path and was struck, police said. The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene, police said.

The driver, a 55-year-old Las Vegas man, was not injured and did not show any signs of impairment, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
