Biker killed after colliding with RTC bus in eastern Las Vegas

A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by an RTC bus this afternoon in the east valley, according to a Metro Police news release.

The collision occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on East Tropicana Avenue at Jimmy Durante Boulevard.

As the bus was traveling east on Tropicana, turning left onto Jimmy Durante on a green turn arrow, a 2012 Honda motorcycle was traveling west at a high rate of speed, the release stated. The biker passed stopped vehicles in the center turn lane as it approached the intersection.

The motorcycle went through the intersection on a solid red light before colliding with the bus, ejecting the 37-year-old rider, the release stated.

Responding medical personnel determined the biker was beyond resuscitation and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the bus remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.
