Las Vegas police investigating rash of over 100 auto burglaries

Metro Police say they are investigating a rash of over 100 auto burglaries this month in the west valley.

Metro received several reports of auto burglaries about 3:10 a.m. on Feb. 3 at an apartment complex in the 8900 block of West Post Road, police said.

Later, more people reported vehicles being burglarized at nearby apartment complexes, police said. As a result, more than 70 victims were located, police said.

Metro received more reports of auto burglaries on Feb. 8 in the 9200 block of West Charleston Boulevard, where detectives investigated more than another 30 cases, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are reviewing each case to obtain leads or video footage that might help identify potential suspects, police said.

“We would like to remind the community to make it a routine to secure their vehicles and property,” Metro said in a statement. “Locking your car, taking your belongings, and hiding items that you store in your vehicle are a couple ways to deter a vehicle break-in.”

Anyone with any information about the incidents should contact Metro at 702-828-9455. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or online at crimestoppersofnv.com.
