Avalanche in Lee Canyon-Mount Charleston area causes road closures

Four initially reported missing have been located

Residents in the Lee Canyon-Mount Charleston area are safe after an avalanche this afternoon, according to a Metro Police news release.

People in the area are safe, as four who were initially reported missing when the avalanche occurred shortly before 3 p.m. have been located, the release stated.

Responders are currently moving people away from the mountain.

Roads are open for emergency traffic and local residents, though others are urged to avoid the area.

Currently Lee Canyon (state Route 156) and Kyle Canyon (state Route 157) roads are closed at U.S. 95, the release stated.
