SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) – The weapons supervisor on the Alec Baldwin movie “Rust” has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for involuntary manslaughter. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed had told Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer the media has portrayed her as a monster, which is the opposite of what is in her heart. Sommer told Gutierrez-Reed, “You were the armorer, the one who stood between a safe weapon and one that could kill someone.” Gutierrez-Reed was convicted last month in the 2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was killed when Baldwin pointed a gun at her during a scene rehearsal and it went off. Baldwin’s trial for involuntary manslaughter will begin in July.
A judge is hearing arguments today over whether Travis Scott should be dismissed from a lawsuit over the deadly Astroworld festival in Houston in 2021. Scott’s attorneys say he had no role in providing security or crowd management for the festival, where ten people were killed during a crowd surge. Last week, a judge dismissed lawsuits against Drake, who was a guest performer during Scott’s set. The first trial from the lawsuits is scheduled for May 6.

Rogers is turning her master’s thesis into a book. She says her longform writing is as much a part of her life as her shortform songwriting. Rogers has a new album out called “Don’t Forget Me.”
