The Moapa Valley football team took advantage of a special teams miscue by The Meadows on Friday, jumping out to a quick lead on the way to a 51-7 road victory.
The Meadows didn’t down a Moapa Valley kickoff, and a Pirates player fell on the loose ball at the 1-yard line for the turnover. On the next play, Mateo Bradshaw scored on a 1-yard run for a 14-0 advantage.
Shandon Matheson had a 47-yard touchdown run, Caden Rawson and Bradshaw scored twice, and quarterback Talon Schraft completed 10 of 17 passes for 118 yards and a score.
“We spread it around and took advantage of good field position,” coach Brent Lewis said.
Moapa Valley plays SLAM Nevada next week in one of the top Class 3A games of the season.
