The Foothill football team usually wins games with its passing attack.
But, with showers pouring down Friday against visiting Silverado, the Falcons also had to rely on its defense and rushing game.
Foothill forced five turnovers and recovered on onside kick to start the second half in a 24-16 win.
“The weather was bad for everybody,” Foothill coach Vernon Brown said. “Those turnovers really helped us out.”
Tarrell Mack-Lovely rushed for a 1-yard touchdown, and Ethan Stubbs and Devon Wake caught touchdown passes from Mason Dew.
Foothill handed Silverado its first loss since 2019 in breaking a 26-game winning streak. Ironically, it was Foothill who handed Silverado that loss four seasons ago in the regional playoffs.
