Rory Dean rushed and passed for a touchdown tonight for the Bonanza football team in a 21-7 playoff win over Cheyenne.
Coach Keith Jones gave credit to his defense, which had four sacks and forced a handful of turnovers.
“They played lights out,” he said of his defense. “They carried us.”
Sencere Mitchell caught a touchdown pass and Jhamari Scott rushed for a score, helping the Bengals (5-4) win their first playoff game in at least 20 years.
They advance to play Centennial next week.
“We are going to give them everything we have” Jones said of a matchup against state favorite Centennial. “This is a goal we set in February. It feels good because this is something we wanted and worked hard for.”
