Aidan Crawford passed for three touchdowns Friday night in the Legacy football team’s 27-20 victory against Palo Verde to win the Class 5A, Division III league title.
It was a back and forth game, and neither team led by more than one possession, Legacy coach Zach Monticelli said.
“We are taking it one game at a time,” the coach said. “We might play them again.”
Legacy could be the favorite to win the state championship, but Monticelli isn’t jumping to that conclusion. There’s plenty of football left to be played, he said.
“I don’t know if we are the team to beat,” he said. “But we are the team at the top (of the standings). right now.”
De’Qua Simon had two touchdown receptions for the Longhorns, and Zaione Henderson caught a score.
Additionally, Airamis Craven rushed for a touchdown.
