Freeze warning to go in effect in parts of Las Vegas Valley

A freeze warning will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday morning in parts of the Las Vegas Valley, the National Weather Service said this morning.

It’s the first freeze warning of the season, the service said.

The warning mainly affects areas outside the 215 Beltway in Las Vegas, impacting northeastern Clark County, the Lake Mead Recreation Area, western San Bernardino County and the Morongo Basin, officials said.

This condition will kill crops and sensitive plants, and potentially damage exposed outdoor plumbing, they said.

They remind residents to cover plants and trees that can’t be brought indoors, and to turn off sprinklers and cover PVB valves.
