The New Year’s Eve fireworks display over Las Vegas Boulevard will last eight minutes using 12,000 electrical circuits and 66 pyrotechnicians, officials coordinating the annual “America’s Party” over the Strip said today.

The gold glitter aerial shells and strobing shells fireworks will create champagne flutes and more in the sky, said Scott Cooper, director of business development for Fireworks by Grucci, the New York-based company setting up the show.

An indoor pyrotechnic display during a preview event today at the Fashion Show mall punctuated the theme of the New Year’s Eve party: “More in ’24.”

“It’s going to be the biggest party that we’ve put on,” said Steve Hill, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, who added that the city expected more than 350,000 people over New Year’s Eve. “It’s going to be the best one we’ve put on.”

The midnight pyrotechnics display will be set to the tune of songs like Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic” and Queen’s “I Want It All.” This is the 19th year that Fireworks by Grucci has coordinated the fireworks for America’s Party, said Tim Keener, president of Las Vegas Events.

“We couldn’t be more humbled and honored to be able to come back year after year and work with everybody,” said Scott Cooper, director of business development for Fireworks by Grucci. “It’s an amazing feat and we’re so happy to be involved.”

This year, the newly opened Fontainebleau Las Vegas will offer its roof as an additional firing location for the intricate pyrotechnics performance, bringing the total number of participating resorts to nine.

Others include the MGM Grand, Aria, Planet Hollywood Las Vegas, Caesars Palace, Treasure Island, the Venetian, Resorts World Las Vegas and the STRAT. The Rio will serve as a command center.

“Just some beautiful colors to look forward to … and of course, all culminating with the Grucci Titanium Grand Finale to really welcome in the New Year,” Cooper said.

Clark County Commission Chairman Jim Gibson encouraged revelers to also take advantage of the array of entertainment and dining options at Las Vegas resorts.

“When you get right down to it, there is no better place to celebrate and seek ‘More in ’24’ than Las Vegas,” Gibson said. “No one — and I say no one — knows how to do a party quite like Vegas. And every year it just gets better.”

Additionally, an entire other “million-dollar bash” will take place on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas, said Andrew Simon, president and CEO of the Fremont Street Experience.

The ticketed “Time of Your Life” festival will showcase eight bands, including Third Eye Blind and Beach Weather, said Simon, who noted that this would be the last downtown Las Vegas New Year’s Eve party during Mayor Carolyn Goodman’s term, which ends in 2024.

The Plaza will also set off fireworks for people in downtown Las Vegas, Simon added.

In 2023, Hill said, the Vegas Golden Knights became Stanley Cup champions, the Las Vegas Aces won their second WNBA Championship, the city hosted its first Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix and more.

Now, he said, Las Vegas will carry all that energy from 2023 into 2024, with the Super Bowl in February and other upcoming events like the second Las Vegas Grand Prix.

“We look forward to riding the energy that we’ve got from 2023 into ‘24,” Hill said. “Las Vegas is on a roll … and we’re super excited about this next year.”

The idea behind the theme “More in ‘24” was to acknowledge that 2023 was a great year for Las Vegas, Keener said, but 2024 is going to be even better.

“The town is just on fire,” Keener said. “We’re all fortunate to be a part of that community, and excited to see what is going to happen in ’24 and beyond.”
