Mount Charleston and the Las Vegas Valley are again at risk for flash flooding heading into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas.

A strong monsoon could bring heavy and quick rainfall to the region starting Friday and running through Sunday, an NWS meteorologist said Thursday morning.

Typical with a monsoon, there is a high confidence in rainfall but less confidence of exactly where it will fall, forecasters said.

The Spring Mountains, which continues cleanup efforts from flash flooding caused by Hurricane Hillary, could see half an inch of rain to two inches and a half Friday through Sunday. The heaviest rainfall is expected Friday and Saturday.

The Las Vegas Valley could see half an inch of rain to an inch during the same period.

Flash flooding rises in the washes and wind gusts between 40 to 60 miles per hour could accompany the storm.

Lightening could also stall cleanup efforts in areas already impacted by the Hurricane Hillary, forecasters said.

Some minor impacts could be felt throughout the region as early as Thursday afternoon.

The National Weather Service plans to issue a flash flood warning for the region by the end of Thursday.
