Three patients were treated after a fire erupted in an abandoned building located in the Arts District Tuesday night, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue says.

Las Vegas and Clark County Fire Departments responded to a report of the fire at 300 E. Charleston Blvd at about 6:21 p.m.

“When firefighters arrived, black smoke was coming from the building with the fire confirmed to be on the second floor,” a statement from Las Vegas Fire says.

Metro Police were requested for traffic control. Westbound Charleston between Casino Center and Fourth Street were shut down as crews worked on the fire.

A second alarm was requested at 6:40 p.m.

Firefighters were still fighting the fire at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Two of the patients were treated on scene and release in stable condition, the statement says. Another two patients were transported for smoke inhalation. Their status was unknown at about 10:30 p.m.
