Evan Cannon rushed for 223 yards and three touchdowns Friday night for the Shadow Ridge football team in a 35-19 win over visiting Legacy.

Shadow Ridge coach Travis Foster said Cannon wasn’t the lone star of the night.

The teams waited out weather delays for nearly three hours, and Foster said credit goes to the game officials for making sure the student-athletes could participate. The coach also gave credit to Legacy’s coaches for keeping their players ready in the visiting locker room.

“A lot of schools didn’t get to play tonight,” Foster said. “I am so grateful for everyone waiting it out.”

Shadow Ridge got a 53-yard touchdown run from Trevin Young in the third quarter to break the game open. Defensively, Jonah Ruiz had a second half interception to seal the win.

The Mustangs play Spanish Springs of Reno next week.
