Members of the Moapa Valley High School football team are pictured during the Las Vegas Sun’s high school football media day at the Red Rock Resort on July 26, 2022. They include, from left, Grant Henrie, Landon Wrzesinski and Ethan Stankosky.

Landon Wrzesinski rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries tonight for the Moapa Valley football team in a 29-13 victory against Slam Academy at Eldorado.

Moapa Valley held a one-point advantage midway through the third quarter when Wrzesinski scored on an 83-yard sweep to blow the game open. He also had a pair of 2-point conversions.

“That’s where we took control of the game,” Moapa Valley coach Brett Lewis said of the long Wrzesinski run.

Degan Jones and Ethan Stankosky added touchdown runs to help Moapa Valley remain undefeated. The defending state champions opened the season with many new contributors, and although they’ve had a few close results, appear to again be the top team in the class 3A.

That’s a testament to the Moapa Valley defense, who against Slam “was pretty awesome,” Lewis said.
