A sexual assault victim was discovered in a hotel room where firefighters extinguished a burning mattress today at a Strip resort, according to Metro Police.

The female victim was pulled from the room and taken to a hospital, Metro Capt. Dori Koren said.

No arrests had been made as of this afternoon, said Koren, who did not provide information on any possible suspects.

No information was released about how the fire started.

Firefighters responded about 11 a.m. to the Excalibur, where the blaze was reported on the sixth floor, the Clark County Fire Department said. They found a sprinkler had been activated in a room where a mattress was on fire, officials said.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, officials said.

No evacuations were necessary, and the fire was under investigation, officials said.
