It’s hard to script a better game than the one Sunrise Mountain had Friday night. The Miners ran back the opening kickoff and it was smooth-sailing from there as they rolled to a 55-0 win over visiting Western.
“That’s what we were hoping for,” Sunrise Mountain coach Joshua Bennett said. “The boys played well.”
Link Rhodes took back the kickoff to start the game for the first of three touchdowns on the night for the senior, and he also had a punt return for a score. Quarterback Dumaurier Alexander threw for 185 yards and a touchdown, and ran in two scores.
Sunrise Mountain’s defense recovered two Western fumbles, and only allowed one first down (a penalty) on the evening.
