Frankie Pelton’s 8-yard touchdown run with 6:47 remaining were the winning points for the Durango High football team in a 28-21 victory against Desert Oasis.
Durango led by 14 points at halftime, but had a hard time containing Desert Oasis running back Christian Vaughn. Vaughn rushed for more than 200 yards.
“That’s a tough team,” Durango coach Toby Henry said of Desert Oasis.
Kaden Renshaw connected with Michael Jackson for a pair of touchdowns receptions, and Renshaw added a touchdown run.
Durango improves to 4-0 overall in the Southwest League. Next week, it plays Bishop Gorman — also 4-0 — for the division championship.
