Members of the Durango High football team pose for a photo at the Las Vegas Sun’s high school football media day Tuesday July 31, 2018 at the Red Rock Resort and Casino. They include, from left, Frankie Pelton, Kaden Renshaw, Jayden Nersinger and TK Fotu.

Frankie Pelton’s 8-yard touchdown run with 6:47 remaining were the winning points for the Durango High football team in a 28-21 victory against Desert Oasis.

Durango led by 14 points at halftime, but had a hard time containing Desert Oasis running back Christian Vaughn. Vaughn rushed for more than 200 yards.

“That’s a tough team,” Durango coach Toby Henry said of Desert Oasis.

Kaden Renshaw connected with Michael Jackson for a pair of touchdowns receptions, and Renshaw added a touchdown run.

Durango improves to 4-0 overall in the Southwest League. Next week, it plays Bishop Gorman — also 4-0 — for the division championship.
