The Clark County Commission on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, recognized emergency workers who responded to a mass casualty crash along the Las Vegas Strip on Dec. 20, 2015.

The Clark County Commission this morning honored first responders who helped dozens of pedestrians injured last month when a car ran onto the sidewalk along the Las Vegas Strip.

Representatives from Metro Police, the Clark County Fire Department and University Medical Center were recognized for their work Dec. 20. One woman died and 36 other people were injured in the crash.

“This is quite a group of heroes we have joining us here this morning,” Commissioner Steve Sisolak said.

Sisolak said the professionalism of police officers, firefighters and hospital workers “really shined” that night. First responders triaged the injured, transported people to hospitals and treated others at the scene, which led to many lives saved, he said.

Metro Deputy Chief Brett Zimmerman also thanked security personnel at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas who rushed to the scene and provided aid.

Similarly, Clark County Fire Chief Greg Cassell expressed gratitude to AMR and MedicWest ambulance crews for helping transport victims to hospitals.

Lakeisha Holloway, 24, the driver accused of striking the pedestrians, is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning. She has been charged with murder, child endangerment and felony hit-and-run.
