A man who was fatally shot Thursday evening in the central valley and another who was injured had approached and argued with the shooter prior to being wounded in what may be an ongoing dispute between two families, according to Metro Police.

Police have identified a person of interest in the shooting as 37-year-old Gerardo Campos-Torres, according to a Metro news release.

According to a Metro news release, police have identified the suspect, but they have not released the person's name and do not have anyone in custody.

Officers were called to a report of a shooting about 7:15 p.m. outside of a residence in the 3000 block of Riverside Drive, near Rancho Drive and Washington Avenue, according to the news release.

They found a man dead and another injured, both with gunshot wounds, on a driveway, police said.

The injured man was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The name of the dead man as well as his official cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

It appears the suspect and a family member were outside when the two men approached, police said.

After a verbal altercation, the suspect fired shots and fled the scene, police said.

This is the fifth homicide this year investigated by Metro Police.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Campos-Torres can call Metro's Homicide Section at 702-828-3521 or email [email protected].
