Two North Las Vegas schools locked down during police manhunt

Two North Las Vegas schools were locked down this afternoon as police searched for a person who ran from them in the area, according to North Las Vegas Police and the Clark County School District.

Clifford O. Findlay Middle School and Fredric W. Watson Elementary School, near Tropical Parkway and North Commerce Street, were placed on lockdown about 1:30 p.m., according to the Clark County School District.

Police began searching about 12:30 p.m. for the suspect, Officer Aaron Patty said. Details about the case were not immediately available.

The lockdowns were lifted about 2:10 p.m., about 5 minutes before Findlay students are normally dismissed, the district said.

The school day at Watson ends about 3:30 p.m., according to the School District.
