Small plane makes emergency landing outside Henderson airport

A small plane made an emergency landing in the desert near Henderson Executive Airport this afternoon after a reported power outage, according to a Clark County Department of Aviation spokesman.

The Beechcraft Bonanza departed Porterville, Calif., bound for Nashville, Tenn., but was diverted to Henderson due to weather conditions, aviation department spokesman Chris Jones said.

As it was preparing to land, the aircraft reportedly lost power and landed in the desert near the airport, just south of St. Rose Parkway, Jones said.

The Henderson Fire Department responded to the scene about 5:20 p.m., spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said.

The two people aboard were not injured, and their genders and ages were not immediately available, Jones said.

There was no fire, but there was damage to the plane, Richards said.

No roadways are impacted, she said.

Henderson Police have also responded, and they are awaiting a crane to remove the plane, according to fire and aviation officials.
