Lawyers for a suspect in a series of armed robberies asked a judge this morning for more time to seek reduced bail and addiction counseling for their client.

Shane Ross, son of Las Vegas Mayor Pro Tem Steve Ross, faced Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Cynthia Cruz on six counts related to the robberies. Bail on those counts was previously set at $60,000.

Shane Ross told investigators when he was arrested last week that he was seeking money to pay HOA fees and bills, according to his arrest report. Steve Ross released statements citing his son’s addiction issues.

The defense team needs to address controlled substance issues on a legal and human level, Attorney David Chesnoff said.

Metro Police arrested Shane Ross on Friday after armed robberies at a Spring Valley Burger King and a Walgreens, Metro Police said.

He’s suspected in at least 10 August armed robberies, which Metro deemed the cruiser robbery series because the robber arrived and left on a motorcycle.

An officer tracked a motorcycle after the Burger King and Walgreens robberies, and Shane Ross was arrested leaving a small casino on Tropicana Avenue near Jones Boulevard less than two hours later, police said.
