Driver dead after suffering medical episode, driving car into block wall

A 53-year-old driver may have suffered a medical episode before a fatal car crash near the central part of the valley Saturday evening, according to Metro Police.

Also according to police:

A 2005 Nissan Titan was traveling west on West Desert Inn Road, near South Myrtle Avenue, when the vehicle left the road, traveled over the north curb and continued northwest across the sidewalk before the right front of the truck struck a block wall to the south of 444 W. Desert Inn Road.

The driver was taken to Spring Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An 11-year-old passenger did not suffer any injuries.

The cause of the collision, as well as the driver's death, remain under investigation.
