Careless discarding of smoking material sparked an apartment fire near the central part of the valley Sunday morning and caused an estimated $5,000 in damage, according to the Clark County Fire Department.
Also according to the department:
At 9:33 a.m., firefighters responded to the Sierra Point Apartments, near Desert Inn Road and Maryland Parkway.
The fire was quickly extinguished by 9:42 a.m.
Six adults and four children were displaced and are currently receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
