MountainView Hospital announced it would be opening a wound care and hyperbaric center next week.

The center, located on the first floor of hospital’s medical office building, will allow patients with chronic wounds to receive care in an outpatient setting. It will also feature the hospital’s first hyperbaric oxygen chamber.

“Our goal is to find the root cause of the wound, heal it and prevent further problems or infections — all while using the latest treatments, therapies and services available,” the center’s director, Diana Grimmesey, said.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy stimulates wound healing by saturating the wound with oxygen from inside-out, which can decrease swelling, infection and pain.

The Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center also will offer wound evaluation, compression therapy, vascular diagnostics, skin substitutes and treatment of bone infections, among other services.

Chronic wounds will be the center’s focus, but it also will provide relief for ulcer, infections and difficult-to-heal wounds, officials said.

MountainView Hospital is located in the northwest valley at 3100 N. Tenaya Way.
